Jim Silver focuses his practice on all phases of criminal litigation with an emphasis on post-conviction matters and appeals.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Harvard Law School, Jim is a former federal prosecutor. As an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington, D.C., he tried dozens of jury cases, argued appeals before both the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and supervised criminal investigations involving the Metropolitan Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Park Police, among others.
Jim is the author of The Crime Junkie's Guide to Criminal Law (Praeger) and writes a blog on PsychologyToday.com called Crimes, Courts and Cops. Jim is frequently interviewed by the media and offers legal commentary on CNN.com.
