Devorah is an attorney focusing on civil litigation, probate matters and domestic relations. She received her B.A. (1983) and M.A. (1987) in Germanic Languages and Literatures, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She spent the majority of her undergraduate and graduate years at the Universitet Linkoeping, Sweden, and the Universitaet Freiburg, Germany. Her academic stay in Germany was propelled by a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst). In 1986, Devorah was awarded certification as a licensed translator for business and industry from the Industrie- und Handelskammer (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) of Baden-Wuerttemberg and soon thereafter began her own translation business parallel to her studies.
In 1989, Devorah entered Brooklyn Law School as an International Business Law Fellow and, upon graduation in 1992, was awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in German law at the Universitaet Freiburg, Germany. While studying for her LL.M. from 1992 - 1994, she worked as an adjunct in the Civil Law Department and mentored the International Moot Court Team at the law school. In 1994, she was awarded an LL.M. from the Universitaet Freiburg, summa cum laude.
In 1993, Devorah was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York. In February 1997, Devorah returned to the Boston area where she settled with her family. She immersed herself in the practice of domestic relations law and civil litigation in both the public service and private sectors and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1999 and the Maine Bar in 2002. In 2002, Devorah was asked to assist the Boston office of Eckert Seamans, LLP, one of the country's largest and most respected law firms, with pre-trial discovery in a multidistrict litigation case involving a significant German pharmaceutical corporation. For nearly six years, Eckert Seamans continued to rely on Devorah's civil litigation skills in several of its complex pharmaceutical litigation matters.
Since 2007, Devorah has been affiliated with Senior Partners for Justice in Boston, for whom she has represented a number of domestic relations clients, all of whom are Spanish-speaking. Devorah is fluent in both Spanish and German and has a working knowledge of Swedish and French. In February 2009, Devorah was honored with a "Partner of the Year" award for her pro-bono work for Senior Partners.
Devorah has entered appearances as a Guardian ad Litem in Rogers cases and receives appointments as Guardian in probate cases. Since January 2008, Devorah has represented dozens of English- and Spanish-speaking minors in Superior Court cases involving Judicial Consent for Minors Seeking Abortions. Devorah recently became certified as an attorney on the Children and Family Law trial panel of CPCS and is anticipating certification for the CAFL Appellate Panel in the proximate future.
Apart from her strong academic background and her significant legal skills and experience, Devorah brings a strong sense of cultural diversity, advocacy and civil litigation to Denner Pellegrino, LLP.
